How do I set up an EcoChain account?
If you would like to set up an EcoChain account you can contact us by filling in the contact form or by calling us +31 20 3035 777. An account will be set up and you will be ready to go within five minutes.
I've tried to register but I'm not receiving an activation email, what should I do?
Check your spam folder to make sure the activation email did not end up there. You can also use the search function in your email application and search for email@example.com. If you are sure that you have not received an email please contact us and we will help you to complete your registration. Contact details are below.
Do I need any prior knowledge or experience to work with EcoChain?
At EcoChain technologies we aim to provide you with an easy to use application. Therefore no extensive knowledge or experience in the field of sustainability is needed. However, to support you and your company with the implementation of EcoChain, training can be provided. Please see the above section on this support page for details.If your company requires any further assistance please contact us so we can help you out directly or provide you with the services of one of our consultancy partners.
Where can I find the data needed for EcoChain?
For the full implementation of EcoChain various types of data are needed. These various types of data can be found at different parts of the organization. Bill of Materials can often be found at R&D, process and production data can often be found at the production manager, material purchase and usage can often be found at purchasing. More details on the data needed can be found after registering at app.ecochain.com.
Can I import data from my data systems into EcoChain?
Yes, it is possible to use an import to get your data uploaded into EcoChain. However this option is for now reserved to EcoChain staff as we are still working on a public option. If you would like to use an import please contact us.
What are the system requirements for working with EcoChain?
EcoChain is an online application, which can be accessed with an internet browser. Therefore no specific system requirements are needed to work with EcoChain. A recent browser is advised: IE 9 and up, Chrome, Firefox or Safari.
Where can I find the user manual?
When you are working in EcoChain you can open the user manual by clicking on the need help button. The need help button is the question mark icon in the top right of the screen next to your user name. The user manual automatically opens at the position relevant to the screen you are working in.
How do I add users to my account?
You can manage your users in the settings page of your account. To reach the settings page you have to click the settings button. The settings button is the gear icon in the top right of your screen next to your username. On the settings page select the Users title. Here you can manage the authorizations of different users and add new users by inviting them via e-mail.
I’ve lost my login name/email, what should I do?
The login name for EcoChain will always be an email address. To this email address an activation email has been sent to activate the account. If you have multiple email addresses you can search for firstname.lastname@example.org to see which email address is linked to an EcoChain account. If you cannot retrieve this email please contact us and we will see how we can help you.
I have typed in the wrong login details three times and now I am blocked, what should I do?
As a safety measure your IP-address is blocked for an hour. After this hour you can try to log in again. If you cannot remember your password please view I've lost my password, how can I get a new one? If you need to access your account immediately please contact us and we will work out a solution.
I've lost my password, how can I get a new one?
If you have forgotten you can select the forgot password title on the log in screen. Provide your e-mail address and you will receive an e-mail from us. Follow the instructions in this e-mail to reset your password.
Where can I change the year of input?
In the top right of your screen you can see your company name, your username and a number in-between. This number displays the year you are working in. Simply change the year by clicking the number and selecting another year from the drop down menu.
Where can I change the language?
You can change the language in the log-in screen by clicking the title on the right. This will open a dropdown menu where you can select the language of your choosing. When already logged into the EcoChain application you can change the language in the settings page to reach the settings page you have to click the settings button. The settings button is the gear icon in the top right of your screen next to your username. On the settings page select the Regional preferences title. Here you can change the language to the language of your choosing. Currently EcoChain is available in four languages, English, Nederlands, Deutsch and Français.
I keep running into an error, what should I do?
Please contact us at email@example.com, make sure to include a screenshot and a description of the error including which browser and operating system you use and what you were doing when the error occurred. We will make sure to get back to you with a solution as soon as possible.
What norms and standards does EcoChain comply with?
We have been verified by KEMA to be compliant with ISO14040 and EN15804. Furthermore EcoChain is compliant with the Dutch CO2-Performance Ladder, ISO14025, ISO14044 and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. The ISO norms are internationally accepted formats for Life Cycle Analysis, while the EN15804 is specifically aimed at construction products.
How do I know that my data is secure with EcoChain?
The EcoChain platform undergoes regular security testing to make sure your data stays secure. To ensure maximum security we advise our clients to regularly change their passwords and to not share their account details with anyone.EcoChain uses the Equinix IBX® data centre servers. They have been certified according to ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, OHSAS 18001:2007, ISO 27001:2005, and ISO 50001:2011, and they are ‘PCI-DSS Chapter 9’ compliant.
Who owns my data?
You and your company remain owner of your data. This means that you control who has access to your account and which environmental product data is shared with the EcoChain database and/or supply chain partners.
Where does the environmental data come from that is used in EcoChain?
EcoChain only uses certified databases and keeps up to date with latest standards. EcoChain users can choose which impact standard they would like to use, including European, US and international standards. Reference values for materials are based on different databases and we have our own. The source of material reference values is depicted in the application. Among the databases we use are EcoInvent, ELCD and USLCI.
What are scopes?
Scopes are used to differentiate between different types of Green House Gas emissions. Scope 1 are all direct emissions off a company, E.g. GHG emissions from a gas heated oven. Scope 2 are all indirect emissions of a company due to energy usage, E.g. electricity usage where the emissions are generated at the power plant. Scope 3 emissions are all indirect emissions due to material usage, E.g. cardboard boxes that are used for shipping which have caused GHG emission to be made.
What are impact categories and what do they mean?
Environmental impact is not just limited to Greenhouse Gas emissions. There are more elements that need to be taken into account when considering sustainability. EcoChain therefore distinguishes numerous different impact categories. More information on the impact categories can be found in the appendix of the user manual.
